MGT1026 Data Literacy for Digital Innovation
This module is designed with a human lens to explore data and AI applications in social and business context, and the imperative to equip students in Data Literacy for the future of work, relevant to all disciplines of study. The module examines the crucial role of data in today’s digital economy and the significance of data and AI driven transformation and value creation in society, data monetization in business, and human-machine collaboration in the transforming world of work. The module equips students in data mindset, develops critical thinking in analytics, inspires creativity through reframing of problems from insights, fosters data-centric decisions, strengthens communication through data storytelling, and instills data ethics for sustainable development.
The module introduces the key concepts of data literacy and practices in the organizational context. The module does not require any technical background as data science or machine learning. Throughout the module, students will engage in experiential learning with the use of personal data stories, case studies, Data Literacy challenge, data ethics debates, case sharing from guest speakers of business data users and organization visits on data-driven transformation in society and business.
