COM1011 Decentralized Future: Blockchain

COM1012 How to Master GenAI

This module provides a comprehensive introduction to Generative AI tools and their practical applications in academic and professional settings. Students will learn to effectively utilize various Generative AI platforms for content creation, data analysis, and problem-solving through hands-on projects and real-world case studies. The course emphasizes practical skills development, enabling students to integrate Generative AI tools into their academic work and future careers while understanding both the capabilities and limitations of current AI technologies.

COM1013 Towards the Future: Metaverse

This module is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of the Metaverse, its key concepts, technologies, and implications for individuals and society. As a convergence of physical and digital realities, the Metaverse represents a paradigm shift in how we interact, socialize, work, and engage with content. This module will explore the essential components of the Metaverse, including virtual and augmented reality, blockchain technology, social dynamics, and economic models. AMS1620 Storytelling with Impact: How to Visually Present Data

This module introduces various data visualization techniques, from interactive dashboards to immersive infographics, to facilitate smart decision making in an ever-changing world. The module emphasizes digital competence, equipping students with the skills to analyse data critically and select the most appropriate visualization methods for different contexts. By leveraging cutting-edge tools and software, students will explore the aesthetics of design, colour theory, and data storytelling, ensuring their visualizations resonate intellectually. Through participating in in-class demonstration and completing group project, student will emerge as proficient data storytellers, capable of navigating the complex landscape of digital information for making smart decisions. AIN1760 Quantify Wealth: Financial Risk Management

This module discusses the quantitative dimensions of financial risk management and the impact of technological innovations. It focuses on analysing and quantifying financial risks which may lead to setbacks or suboptimal outcomes for the community. Students are expected to apply knowledge of financial risk management and develop a quantitative mindset to solve financial risk-related problems. The ethical considerations of financial risk management will be discussed. With the help of state-of-the-art technology (such as Machine Learning), students are expected to demonstrate technological mindset in navigating uncertainties and contributing to the well-being of the broader community by using a wide range of quantitative risk management techniques.

AMS1670 WarTech: Innovations Transforming the Battlefield

This module explores how advancements in science and technology have influenced warfare from World War I to the present day, shaping society along the way. By looking at how science intersect with the military technology innovations, students will see how these innovations have impacted our modern world. Throughout the course, students will learn about some key techno-military innovations used in different conflicts and how they played a critical role in the technological applications of the digital era. Furthermore, it will explore scientific approaches utilized in military decision making, prompting students to use their creativity to discover and resolve contemporary problems in their daily lives.

Topics covered include understanding the trajectory calculations of cannon fire, the mechanism of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), encryption methods used during WWII, casualty modelling in significant battles, enemy position locating technologies, the development of the Global Positioning System (GPS), and the evolution of computers during wartime. Students will gain insights into how these technological innovations have influenced society nowadays and the scientific principles underlying them.
