Module Description

This module explores the nature and meaning of fitness and wellness in contemporary society. The major macro determinants such as environment and socio-economic factors are discussed. The roles, significance and contribution of individual wellness within society are also examined. The module provides basic and essential information on developing a healthy lifestyle.Throughout the modules, students are required to participate in a number of practical exercises in order to strengthening their understanding of fitness and wellness.

Module Intended Learning Outcomes (MILO)

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to: 
a. command a conceptual understanding of the meanings, nature and significances of science and technology of wellness in contemporary society;
b. investigate the macro and micro determinants of wellness in contemporary society; 
c. develop a scientific mind set and methodology in dealing with human’s daily-life challenges about health and wellness;
d. evaluate in a variety of conditioning and fitness activities so as to maintain a healthy and active life-style.
