To better achieve the goal of our “Liberal + Professional” education model of HSUHK, the Common Core Curriculum (CCC) aims to provide our undergraduate students a comprehensive educational experience throughout their 4-year U life. The curriculum consists of the following components:

i.   Languages (Chinese Language and English Language);

ii.  Quantitative Methods and IT Skills;

iii. National Education and National Security Education^; and

iv. FuturEdge Programme^ / General Education*.

^ Applicable to Year 1 students admitted in 2025/26 or after, and senior entrants admitted to Year 2 from 2026/27 or Year 3 from 2027/28 onwards
* Applicable to Year 1 students admitted in 2024/25 or before; and senior entrants admitted to Year 2 in 2025/26 or Year 3 in 2026/27 or before

Curriculum Objectives

To foster interdisciplinary knowledge, abilities of speaking, reading, and writing, critical thinking, communication skills, and IT and numerical skills necessary for students’ academic studies and future successes in an ever-changing world

To cultivate students to be literate and responsible participants in the workplace, society and the world, with a critical understanding of the local society in connection with the global community

To develop students’ understanding of the ethical values and dimensions of their actions, with the capacity to understand, concern, and exercise one’s agency for the well-being of others

To cultivate students’ creativity and abilities to innovate, guided by informed decision-making and sense of humanity

To promote integrative learning through competing critical viewpoints and a variety of pedagogical models
