This module explores how the digital technology transforms our habit of reading and learning. It examines the relations betweenreading, digital devices and our cognitive processes. The module also addresses the significance of reading in the digital era in influencing one’s capability to express oneself in words and to understand and share one’s feelings, as well as in influencing one’s mental health. Through the exploration of digital era’s influence to our reading and learning processes, it enhances students’ awareness of the impact of modern technology on their daily life.
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
a. Develop an understanding of key theories and debates concerning the impact of modern technology on students’ reading and learning processes
b. Identify the positive and negative impacts of technology on students’ reading and learning processes
c. Critically recognize how technology significantly influences one’s well-being by changing our reading and learning processes
d. Understand how technology influences people in their expression of their ideas in the digital era
