The FuturEdge Programme is a transformative component of the Common Core Curriculum building on solid theoretical foundation that aligns with the mission of HSUHK and its desired graduate attributes “iGPS”. It aims at cultivating three “Future Edges” ― caring heart, global vision, and innovative mind ― in our students through the implementation of thematic clusters and diverse pedagogical approaches. The FuturEdge Programme prioritizes the cultivation of positive attitudes and transferable competencies as an integral aspect of the knowledge transfer process, striving to nurture our students as well-rounded and confident individuals with the readiness and resilience to tackle various challenges in their lives.
The FuturEdge Programme requirements are applicable to undergraduate students admitted to Year 1 in AY2025/26 and onwards, and senior entrants admitted to Year 2 in and after AY2026/27, and those admitted to Year 3 in AY2027/28 and onwards.
Students are required to pass the FuturEdge Programme requirements prescribed below.

Senior entrants admitted to Year 2 or Year 3 may be granted with credit transfer to fulfil the FuturEdge Programme credit requirements prescribed below, subject to review and approval by the respective Programme Director of the major programme enrolled by the student. The policy of credit transfer is stipulated in the Academic Regulations for Undergraduate Programmes.
In addition to the policy on credit transfer, senior-year entrants also need to comply with the prevailing policy governing credit transfer for the Common Core Thematics requirement approved by the University.

CCC1000 University and Liberal Arts Education is mandatory for all Year 1 students, while CCC2000 University and Liberal Arts Education for Senior Entrants is mandatory for all senior entrants admitted to Year 2 from AY 2026/27 onwards and to Year 3 from AY 2027/28 onwards.

The module encourages students to explore the purpose of higher education and its role in shaping both personal and intellectual growth. It examines the historical development of universities, the balance between tradition and innovation, and the evolving expectations of graduates in a changing world. Students will reflect on the connections between society, culture, and technology, gaining insights into the challenges and opportunities of the future. Through interdisciplinary learning, they will also develop an understanding of essential qualities such as social responsibility, global awareness, and creativity, which are crucial for navigating an increasingly interconnected and dynamic world. By engaging with diverse perspectives and critical inquiry, this module fosters adaptability and a mindset of lifelong learning.
