About the Project

The project “Incorporating Student-Centered Learning (SCL) in the Common Core Curriculum of HSUHK” is an initiative of the Common Core Curriculum Office (CCCO) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK). It aims to design a student-centered Common Core Curriculum (CCC) and support HSUHK academic staff to incorporate student-centered learning (SCL) into their teaching — a pedagogy that fosters students’ autonomy, ownership, and engagement in learning.

The project supports the implementation of a student-centered CCC by providing training and developing professional resources for teaching staff, strengthening their proficiency to integrate SCL into their module design, teaching approaches, and assessment methods. Throughout its three-year implementation, the project seeks to promote broader adoption of SCL, empowering students to engage more deeply, think more critically, and benefit from a transformative learning experience in the CCC.

(The project is funded by the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) under the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund (SPEF).)
