New Module:

ENG3000 University English for Senior Entrants (*Non-credit bearing)

A pre-sessional English language module, ENG3000 University English for Senior Entrants, mandatory for all Year-3 entrants will be introduced in AY 2022/23 to ensure that students meet the basic level of English proficiency.

Students will be exempted from such requirements if they attain DSE Level 3 or above in the English Language or a satisfactory score in one of the approved language tests including IELTS (6), TOFEL (540 paper-based, 200 CBT, or 75 IBT), TOEIC (680), and CET-4 (490). Completion of this module is required for graduation of all Year-3 entrants unless such exemption is granted.

There will be no fee for the new module ENG3000.

Existing Modules:

ENG2000 IELTS Preparation Course (*Non-credit bearing)

The revamped ENG2000 IELTS workshop series (a one-week intensive workshop series of 15 contact hours) will be offered in the summer of AY 2022/23. Trial-running of the proposed workshop series will take place in March/April.

ENG2000 requires a HK$500 deposit which is refundable upon satisfactory attendance rate.

ENG4000 English Proficiency Course (*Non-credit bearing)

ENG4000 English Proficiency Course (a remedial module for those who fail the IELTS exit requirement) will only cater for students who have already taken the revamped ENG2000 IELTS Workshops  and attempted the IELTS exam at least twice.

This new measure will be applicable to all students (both Year-1 and Senior-Year Entrants) starting from AY 2022/23. A fee of HK$2,000 should be paid for ENG4000.
